Play Party in L.A.

The Los Angeles Band of Brothers plans to bring the largest men’s fetish/play party L.A. has seen in many years on Saturday, November 22, entitled “YARD.” Founding member Mikel Gerle, International Mr. Leather 2007, cites the Tom of Finland “Butt Boy” parties of years past as a, well, seminal inspiration for this event. “Those parties were a big part of my leather journey, and I think L.A. is ready to have that kind of erotic energy again.”

The Brothers have secured a large, 7,000 square-foot dungeon space for the event, fully equipped with extensive bondage furniture, a large hall for socializing and public BDSM performances, and a variety of other playrooms. “There will be something for everyone and every comfort level,” said J.R. Raymond, the current Mr. Sanctuary Leather. “Whether you just think firefighters are sexy, or you’re into loud screaming pain, this is the place to be. We’ll have both here for you.” Raymond says the Brothers are expecting upwards of 300 people.

The name “YARD” is the brainchild of American Leatherman Randy Carmenaty, who, like Gerle, started his title career as Mr. Oil Can Harry’s (2008). “A yard can be lots of things – a prison yard, a junk yard, whatever,” says Carmenaty. “Or a humpyard,” Gerle adds. He insists, “Maybe it’s just a Midwestern thing, but a humpyard is like a train switching yard.”

Tickets for YARD are $30 in advance, and $40 at the door if available. They can be purchased at 665 Leather, Mr. S Leather, and Rough Trade, or online at www.yardLA.com.

The L.A. Band of Brothers is a new organization comprised of current and former titleholders who have competed in the Mr. Los Angeles Leather contest since the formation of the unified Los Angeles Leather Coalition in 1999. The group was founded earlier this year by Gerle and a group of the current “LA Eleven” titleholders. Membership is open to all the men who have held such a title, and there are no other requirements or dues for membership. The L.A. Band of Brothers’ web site is www.labrothers.org.
