This sort of sums up Folsom Street Fair. Hot Tatto’d Man in fetish spandex pants and motorcycle boots… standing next to a guy dressed like a … circus performer and a Skinhead on his iPhone. 

I’m really not knocking the event. But, after attending nearly 10 Folsoms over the last 18 years, I have seen it change from being primarily a Gay Kink event… to a an event that is aimed to welcome everyone.  Last year, a friend compared it to a Lady Gaga concert because everyone dresses up in some sort of outfit for the day to let their Freak Flag Fly.  I couldn’t agree more. 


While both street fairs are unique in their own way, if you’re looking for a street fair even that is aimed more so for the Gay Kinksters, I would suggest you attend Dore Alley Fair (aka “Up Your Alley”) in San Francisco over Folsom.
