The fourth (depending on how you count) edition of a community resource developed by and for Toronto’s kink community is about to be born. My how this baby has grown! From a simple photocopied pamphlet in the late ’80s, to a 10 panel colour brochure in 1999, to a full colour 40 page glossy deluxe booklet full of state of the art risk reduction information, expanded content, new sections, and stunning photographs by G. Elliot Simpson.
BDSM: Safer Kinky Play may just be the best resource of its kind in the world! While greatly expanded, both in content and presentation, the fourth edition builds on the foundation laid by the many contributors of the previous editions. The fourth edition is a unique collaboration with funding and editorial resources from Toronto’s kink community, in editorial partnership with the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), and with printing resources contributed by the Canadian AIDS Treatment Exchange (CATIE). The third edition was one of the most requested resources produced by ACT, and we expect this new baby to carry on that tradition!
ACT is joining with community members and venues to launch BDSM: Safer Kinky Play at key events of this fetish themed weekend. ACT is hosting a launch meet and greet at the Black Eagle on Friday at 6 p.m., outreach at MLT’s Leatherball, joining with Northbound at 1 p.m. to help welcome the astounding Brian Dawson to Toronto at his talk on Saturday, and then on Sunday, it’s an afternoon of demos and giveaways at the ACT Info. Table at the Church Street Fetish Fair. (More details available in the attached flyer).
We’re excited to be launching the latest and best of our kinky babies. I’ll be at all of these events. I hope to see you at at least one of them!
