Assessment of Therapists’ Kink-Competency

Researchers at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, in collaboration with The Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities (CARAS), are conducting a study that is assessing for mental health professionals’ kink-competency when working with kink-identified clientele. The researchers are seeking kink-identified participants who reside in the United States or Canada to complete an online survey about their experiences with mental health professionals. Participants will not be asked to provide identifying information and all survey responses will be kept confidential.

Mr. International Rubber Announces Judges for MIR 17

The husband of MIR 16 Jason Lynch is one of seven judges.

CHICAGO (August 25, 2013) – Mr. International Rubber (MIR) is pleased
to announce the judges for MIR 17, to be held November 8 -10, 2013.

The judges are:
· Daddy Tom, member of Centaurs MC and Mama’s Family
· Dean Ogren, American Brotherhood Weekend producer and American
Leatherman 2000
· Master Dexter, International LeatherSIR 2005
· Philip Hitchcock, PHD Gallery owner and Mr. Midwest Leather 2010
· RubInuki, Mr Rubber UK 2012 and first runner-up for MIR 16
· Sir Dart, kink presenter and host of the Dart’s Domain podcast
· Stephen Perry, husband of MIR16 Jason Lynch and member of the New
England Rubber Men

The tally masters for this year are:

MIR 17 will be returning the Hoover-Leppen Theatre at the Center on
Halstead (CoH) in the heart of Chicago’s Boystown. The MIR Kink Market &
Social, located in The Billie Jean King Recreation Center at the CoH,
will be open Friday, November 8, Saturday, November 9 from Noon – 7pm
and Sunday, November 10 from Noon – 5 pm.The Market is open to the
public (18+). Admission is $5.00 per day or $10 for all three days.

RUFF THOUGHTS: Words of Advice

This is actually something a friend in San Francisco said during my visit.  He was doing some reflecting on himself after his one year anniversary of moving to the Bay Area.  Gay Communities are so very different in each city (and yet… the same) and come with some very interesting and occasional rough adjustments.  He’s a strong, beautiful and funny man.  I’m very, very proud of him.

“Life is way too short. Enjoy each moment. You can’t be everything to everyone, but just remember the good you’ve done and how important you are to those that really care about you. Don’t sweat the small stuff and don’t let others bring you down. Its a hard lesson to learn, but it’s worth it. And most importantly, Remember the good in everyone even when its not visible”.
