“We are TheBoundCollective – an international artist group of guys who love to publicly display their passion for bondage and objectification. In our taping work, we focus on situations of everyday life that we attack with the complete dismantling of human self-determination. For us, it’s all about the dehumanization of the human being. We’re getting a massive kick out of transforming our victims into faceless objects. That’s why we love tape. It covers up their individuality until nothing remains. With each layer, they can feel their humanity disappear. With stiffened joints, useless hands, and blind eyes, they’re being objectified into perfect insignificance.
We made our debut at Folsom Europe 2016 with the installation “Tape Mummies @ Victoria Luise” inside a Berlin subway station. For that, we had planned to find seven guys willing to get taped in public. Long story short, in the end we even found eight. We got in touch with the Berlin subway’s art department to make sure station security wouldn’t interfere with the project. Our contact there was fabulous, she loved the idea! Well, it’s Berlin… There’s even a shop in this city that specializes in all kinds of tape. We felt like twinks in a fashion boutique. We fell in love with the camouflage tape and added some other colors as well as a dash of pink. Armed with about 2,000 feet of tape, we turned our kinky vision into reality. Now we’re looking forward to our next public taping – evil fantasies we’ve got enough!”
