JULY 20-22 – Mister Midwest Rubber
Work is already underway for this summer’s Mister Midwest Rubber contest, hosted each year by Touché bar. Save the date(s): Fun kicks off on Friday, July 20, contest on Saturday, July 21, and Beer Bust on Sunday, July 22! Interested in competing? YOU could be the next Mister Midwest Rubber! Head over towww.touchechicago.com for more information and to find the contestant application.
Rubber tip: You can tell who is wearing a rubber jock at the Pride Parade by the tell-tale sweat stains on their shorts 😉 Stay shiny, rubbermen!
Sidenote: Thanks out to CHICAGO DEN. With the amazing weather and “Midsommarfest” festival going on in Andersonville this weekend, I was far too lazy to do anything more than copy and paste from their blog. 😉

Church Street Merchants Axe Fetish Fair
This is some very sad and frustratining news. Major support to the Flash Mob that showed up last year despite the changes. That took serious courage. Stick with it, guys. Let them know you feel alienated.
Summer in the Church and Wellesley Village is about to get a little less kinky now that members of the local business association have decided they will no longer host the Church St Fetish Fair.

Remembering Mr. Marcus Hernandez
This is a great collage video dedicated to Marcus which was shown at IML. I’m really happy it made it to YouTube. He was a special guy. I admired the work and involvement he had in the community as well as the people that are his family. I only knew him from social circles at events and only met the guy once, when he was playfully drunk at a party and shared some special words with me which were… “Get the fuck out of my way, Twink”.
(I’m told if you knew him, it was a joke).
Mr. Marcus Hernandez, a fixture in the leather community and at so many IML’s over the years. Remembered fondly at the 32nd International Mr. Leather Competition in Chicago. May 2010.

Welcome Home
Yesterday’s viral photo sensation that seemed too-good-to-be-real turns out to be authentic. Thanks to some apparent detective work by Joe Jervis, we now know the returning Marine was Brandon Morgan, greeting his partner, Dalan Wells. He’s written: “To everyone who has responded in a positive way, my partner and I want to say thank you. Dalan, the giant in the photo, can’t believe how many shares and likes we have gotten on this. We didn’t do this to get famous, or something like that. We did this cause after 3 deployments and four years knowing each other, we finally told each other how we felt. As for the haters, let em hate…to quote Kat Williams, everyone needs haters, so let them hate. We are the happiest we have ever been and as for the whole PDA and kissing slash hugging in uniform…it was a homecoming. If the Sergeants Major, Captains, Majors, and Colonels around us didn’t care…then why do you care what these random people have to say? In summation, thank you for your love and support. I received a lot of friend requests off this. I don’t just accept requests so if your request was because of this post, message me and let me know. Goodnight all, and Semper Fi.” Thank you for your service to our country, Sir, and to both of you for having the courage to live and love out loud.

Heads Up Folsom Street Fair attendees…
“Normally, the Folsom Street Fair is held on the last weekend in September. However, in 2012, that weekend is the same as Oracle Open World. We have received word from our partners in the hotel industry that many of the city’s hotels are already completely sold out for that weekend”.
I hope the date change doesn’t affect attendance overall. It’s certainly not the organizer’s fault.
Spread the word!

The Leather Identity Project . Check this out. The results are going to be very interesting.
Also, Keep in mind that the word “LEATHER” encompasses all forms of kink and lifestyle including Rubber, Sports Gear, etc. So, yes… even you in the Raccoon Mascot (furry outfit)… your opinion is of value to the Project!
